Business first

Instead of copying the traditional path of the venture capital fund, WP2 Investments is constantly looking for its own path of development. The first years of the fund's existence were a time of intensive investment in startups at various stages of development, building partnerships and looking for interesting investment projects. The result is today a portfolio of over 30 companies operating in various industries, but grouped into three pillars:
- fintech companies (mainly around payments),
- companies from the area of renewable energy sources (biomethane and solar investments)
- impact&tech, i.e. technology companies, edu-techs, med-techs or SaaS companies, as well as impact companies and those with an AI component.
Over the years of running the fund, following the investment market and the market environment, we have diagnosed 3 strong super trends that determine the fund's investment policy and indicate the directions in which we are looking. These include: digitization of financial services, energy transition and the growing role of technological impact projects supplemented with AI technology.
A number of events that took place in the fund's portfolio during the first four years of operation, solid business partnerships built and the resultant of the above-described trends made WP2 Investments enter a new level of investment management. This involves updating the business model and changes in the portfolio structure.
In order to maximize the business potential of our portfolio, in addition to the classic VC fund, we have created and will continue to develop new initiatives in the coming years, which will allow WP2 Investments to increase the scale of its operations, expand its influence and increase its agency in the established structures.
The VC fund remains at the center of initiatives, but it has become one of several elements that will be the core of our business from this year. Through strategic partnerships with other shareholders and the creation of new sub-funds, we will be able to optimize the management process of new initiatives.
The new holding business model assumes the development of 3 new structures:
- First of all, the fintech structure, combining companies in the area of payment digitization, which operate in dozens of countries around the world, and about 80 percent of their revenues come from sales abroad. The dynamic development of these companies allowed for the creation of FINANCOR - a unique structure combining the assets held by WP2 in fintech companies. Together with the two majority shareholders, by entering into a business partnership, our fund will co-manage and develop a new holding entity from the management level, the purpose of which will be to build an international leader in payments and enter the stock exchange in the coming years.
- Another structure is the development of activities as part of the energy transition - part of it is moving towards investments in biomethane installations, which are not yet available on the Polish market. Therefore, in November 2024, we established DA VINCI VC ASI - the first biomethane fund in Poland, with a target capitalization of EUR 25 million. WP2 Investments took up 20 percent of the shares and at the same time acts as a General Partner in this project.
- Rapid development of the AI area - this trend strongly defines one of our new lines of development and new projects, wide-ranging sectoral solutions and marketplace with services for corporations with particular emphasis on the financial market. That is why we have established a partnership with one of the leading software houses and we are working together on new initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence.
